Incontinence is more common than you think
Urinary incontinence is a widespread problem and can affect women, men, and children, and is most common in older people. More than 5 million people in Australia suffer from some form of incontinence – with 6 in 10 women and 3 in 10 men affected in some form.
With an aging population, the need for incontinence products is increasing and together with the cost-of-living crisis being experienced by many Australians, affording quality, and specifically designed incontinence
care products is becoming harder and harder.
Women are almost twice as likely to experience incontinence often associated with pregnancy and childbirth.
Many people are reporting that due to the costs of incontinence care products, they use alternatives that do not effectively manage and control incontinence, which has a detrimental effect on their confidence – leading to social isolation and community disconnection because they are reluctant to leave their homes, attend work or participate in social activities.
Further, lack of access to appropriate incontinence care can result in negative health outcomes – including skin irritations and infection.
With the dignity of the person at the core of mission of the Naturalena Foundation, we are proud to support charitable programs that support better access to quality incontinence care products.
