Alleviating Nappy Stress
The Naturalena Foundation alleviates nappy stress to help babies and families thrive.
One in ten Australian families are experiencing nappy stress – with many more families struggling to afford nappies due to the cost-of-living crisis.
When a family is unable to buy a sufficient supply of nappies without compromising on their basic needs, like food, housing, medical, utilities, they experience nappy stress.
On average, a child will use around 7,000 nappies during their baby-toddler years – and with an average cost of more than $100 a month, the financial burden means that many families are unable to afford an adequate nappy supply to maintain infant hygiene. This can have a knock-on effect of associated health issues for a baby.
Further, many parents miss work or university because they cannot afford nappies, and therefore are unable to leave their children in daycare, which sometimes can jeopardise their employment or educational opportunities.
Sadly, with the rise of Domestic and Family Violence in Australia, many women, and children, especially if they are rehoused in crisis accommodation facilities, have limited or no financial means to buy a sufficient supply of
nappies generating further stress and making is harder for women to rebuild their lives.
The Naturalena Foundation is proud to support charitable programs that provide nappies and baby products to those in need, support for families experiencing nappy stress and donations of nappies and baby wipes to Women’s shelters and refuges for women escaping Domestic Violence.
